Mobile Charging Trial 2: La Veta Pines RV Park
Trial Period: 6/7 - 6/21, 226 W Grand St La Veta Colorado
Our second trial we did in fact get much farther from our home base, and drove way down south to La Veta Colorado, a gem of a town right at the base of the Spanish Peaks. Many people passing through here have mobile homes, camper trailers and the like, and our host was an RV Park that has allowed charging in the past now manages it on a case by case basis. Many old power pedestals cannot handle continuous power draw for EV charging, and many are “daisy chained” circuits for each pedestal, which can be overloaded quickly and can then trip a breaker. La Veta Pines had already updated their electrical, but still had to manage the cost of letting a guest charge their car, which has to be estimated without a direct meter reading. And these issues don’t get into location, pull thru capability, public availability, remote connection management, and so on. Still though La Veta Pines was interested in providing free charging for the town and for their guests, which they had a Tesla tent camper arrive on the 2nd to last day of the trial who we were able to charge up. As EV adoption reaches a tipping point, charging will be expected everywhere, including the RV Park. Once a month will become once a week, and then most locations will have to adapt to keep people coming and coming back. We appreciate you Greg and the R&ROLC for connecting us with LVP, and for being wonderful hosts for our drop off and pickup. Now who else wants to charge on some clean solar power? We are looking for our next trial deployment in NoCO now.. free charging free of charge and all that. Hit us up!
