Boulder Sports Recycler is a Front Range Institution that has been outfitting adventurers for decades and they have a fantastic location just east of Boulder proper on Valtec Hill. People make this pilgrimage to find deals and down and pedals and unique garments to wear around town. We are honored that they let us deploy the Sunplug Station to their lot to find out the demand for EV charging from their patrons.

This is a standalone retail location where most people would only stay less than an hour, so those looking to charge would be generally opportunists. This was reflected in the survey of users, who all had a seamless user experience and would use the station again, some even said they were more likely to return to shop because of the presence of the charging station on site. Overall there were 26 sessions and 22 unique users and 75.2 kWh of clean carbon free solar power was given out to those patrons for no charge. Assuming those cars would otherwise use grid power that is 66 lbs of CO2 avoided, and if all those miles were gas powered that would be 264 miles and 232 lbs of CO2. Yes the electrification is much cleaner already, but these are carbon free miles we are talking about. Our goal is 1000 miles and 300kWh this year, follow along to see us realize that goal.
